Health Education Grants to Neighborhood Schools

Good health and wellness in our schools lay the foundation for a positive and nurturing learning environment ... for classrooms that encourage happy, well-rounded children prepared to learn, grow and lead.

The Foundation is in the first year of a second five year commitment to University Academy Located at 6801 Holmes Road, University Academy is a neighborhood charter school. The Foundation helps support their wellness center . The wellness center operates like a doctor's office in the school and sees all students, grades K through 12. Typical services provided include:

• Physicals
• Sports Physicals
• Immunizations
• Acute Care

Providing these services within the school setting has many benefits:

• Increases attendance
• Gives parents and students peace of mind
• Helps assess illness in early stages
• Keeps students’ focus on learning and social development

The Foundation is pleased to be able to support this program. The Foundation's commitment to University Academy will run through the year 2015 and therefore is not accepting grant proposals for additional grants to neighborhood schools at this time.
